"The
HHBM exemplifies my love for the sport and those who play it". -
Gabriel (Tito) Avila, Jr.
Founder President and CEO
The
Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum, founded by Gabriel (Tito) Avila Jr.
in June of 1999, is the realization of a dream and an idea whose time
has come.
Thanks
to the support, goodwill and special efforts of many individuals, community
leaders, industry professionals and institutions, we have grown and developed
the dream into a reality.
Mr. Avila is a New York City native who has several years of experience
in High School, College and semiprofessional baseball. He played in New
York City's American Legion Baseball, the United Block Association, the
Bronx Federation and for the Hispanic Leagues in Central Park.
Mr.
Avila's love for baseball and his devotion to the Hispanic community has
created a desire amoung himself and others with the same passions to increase
the knowledge and awareness of the contributions made by Hispanic players
to baseball, as well as paying tribute to the Hispanic culture.
